Àbulę Terms of Use

Last Updated: April 8, 2025

Welcome to Àbulę, a virtual homeschool co-op and online school operated by the Floating Freedom Foundation. By accessing or using our website, community spaces, classes, and associated services (collectively, the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.

If you do not agree to these terms, please refrain from using our services.

1. Who We Are #

Àbulę is an inclusive, multicultural online learning community serving students in grades 6–12. We offer live and self-paced academic courses, student-led clubs, digital media initiatives, and family resources through our Ezinụlọ program. Our community also includes teachers, volunteers, and advisors dedicated to academic excellence, creativity, and social connection.

2. Eligibility & Enrollment #

  • Students: To participate, students must be between grades 6–12. Parent or guardian permission is required for all minors. All accounts for students under 18 must be created and supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Parents/Guardians: You are responsible for supervising your child’s use of the platform, ensuring accurate registration information, and helping uphold our community values.
  • Volunteers & Educators: All adult participants must be 18+ and may need to undergo verification or a background check depending on their role.

3. Community Guidelines #

We strive to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. By participating in Àbulę, you agree to:

  • Be respectful in all communication and interactions.
  • Avoid hate speech, discrimination, or harassment of any kind.
  • Not impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with the program.
  • Follow classroom and group conduct rules as outlined by teachers and advisors.
  • Use our community platform (including Student Community forums and messaging) in a responsible and constructive way.

Violation of these standards may result in account suspension or permanent removal from Àbulę without a refund.

4. Privacy & Student Data #

We take student privacy seriously.

  • Àbulę does not sell or share personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
  • Communication and data collection comply with child privacy laws (e.g., COPPA, FERPA where applicable).
  • Class recordings (if applicable) are only accessible to enrolled students and their families for academic review.
  • Students should not share personal identifying information (such as addresses, phone numbers, or school names) publicly on the platform.

For more, review our Privacy Policy

5. Class Access & Content #

  • Live & Self-Paced Courses: Your enrollment provides access only for the designated student. Class materials may not be shared or distributed outside Àbulę without written permission.
  • Teacher-Generated Content: All materials created by teachers, volunteers, and guest instructors remain their intellectual property unless otherwise noted.
  • Student-Generated Content: Students own their original work but grant Àbulę the right to display and share select work (with attribution) in newsletters, showcases, or portfolios, unless families opt out in writing.

6. Technology Use #

  • Users must not attempt to hack, disable, overload, or misuse any part of the Àbulę platform.
  • Bots, unauthorized scripts, or data scraping of course content is strictly prohibited.
  • Users are responsible for ensuring their devices meet technical requirements for participation (stable internet, access to Zoom, etc.).

7. Fees, Refunds & Scholarships #

  • Tuition Fees: Pricing is displayed clearly during registration. Tuition is non-transferable.
  • Refunds: Refunds are available only during the first two weeks (14 days) of a new semester. Special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Scholarships & Tuition Assistance: Recipients must follow participation guidelines. Continued eligibility depends on academic progress and program involvement. Details available on our Tuition Assistance and Scholarship pages.

8. Program Modifications #

Àbulę reserves the right to:

  • Adjust course offerings, schedules, or instructors as needed.
  • Modify or discontinue features (including clubs, groups, or student programs) with reasonable notice.
  • Update these terms periodically. We will notify families and educators of significant changes via email or community notice.

9. Suspension or Termination of Access #

Àbulę may suspend or terminate access for:

  • Repeated rule violations
  • Misuse of community features
  • Failure to follow behavioral or academic policies
  • Disruption of the learning environment

Decisions regarding suspension or termination are made with care and fairness but are final.

10. External Links & Third-Party Services #

Àbulę may link to third-party resources for enrichment or learning. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those sites. Please use external links with discretion.

11. Legal & Liability #

Àbulę, the Floating Freedom Foundation, and its team are not liable for:

  • User misconduct on the platform
  • Technical outages or interruptions beyond our control
  • Decisions made based on information shared through student-led groups or discussions
